About Us
Yoga in the Pines studio is located on 30 acres of pine trees and hardwoods just a short drive from several small towns in the east Texas area. Practice yoga surrounded by the peace and serenity of nature, the only sounds that break the stillness are the call of the birds and the breeze gently whispering through the pine trees. Enjoy the warmth of the sun on your skin as you relax on the deck, enjoying the view of nature in every direction. After class, enjoy the moment a while longer, lingering on one of the porches: stay and visit with friends, read a yoga book or magazine, savor a cup of tea. The studio is the second story of the Yoga Retreat Guest House where guests stay during monthly weekend yoga retreats.
Instructors
Theresa Polley
Certified Yoga & Pilates Instructor
Theresa Polley is a certified yoga instructor, training primarily with Baron Baptiste. She has also studied with Ana Forest, Rod Stryker and Seane Corn and enjoys attending workshops regularly to keep her classes fresh and inspiring. Theresa gives detailed step-by-step instruction and emphasizes the use of the core muscles in all of her yoga classes. It is Theresa’s belief that a regular yoga practice, can not only greatly improve the physical body, but also restore the mind to peace and contentment. She is dedicated to assisting yoga students on their individual yoga journey.
In addition, to yoga, Theresa is also a certified Pilates and Group Exercise Instructor. Her background is in teaching strength training classes, as well as spinning and other cardio classes. She enjoys helping others achieve their fitness goals. After having escaped (and survived!) the corporate world, Theresa feel blessed to be able to spend quality time with her three children and husband, while still achieving great personal joy through teaching and practicing yoga. Theresa is especially thankful for her husband, Eric. His ongoing support (financial and otherwise) has made Yoga in the Pines Studio and Retreat Center a reality.
Melissa Ragsdale
Certified Yoga Instructor
Melissa Ragsdale recently received her yoga certification through Yoga Fit. Melissa had enjoyed taking yoga classes before moving to this area several years ago. She began taking classes with Theresa in the Fall of 2007. She is a dedicated and determined yoga student, practicing poses and flows in order to improve her form, as well as strengthen her body. She brings those same qualities to her teaching, in addition, she is patient and gentle with her students. She currently is teaching Gentle Yoga, Yoga Basics and Kids Yoga. Please check out one of her classes, you will walk out the door with a peaceful smile on your face.
Michelle Wallace
Certified Personal Trainer
Michelle Wallace is a certified Personal Trainer with over 3 years of experience. Michelle is passionate about helping her clients and students achieve their fitness goals. She specializes in leading the non-exerciser to proven results through their fitness routine and she strives to keep it fun and enjoyable. She is especially good at giving detailed instructions to avoid injury, and watches each student to make sure they have proper alignment and technique. Michelle has been physically active her entire life, excelling at soccer and track while she was in school, and more recently working out daily utilizing a wide range of fitness regimens from yoga to strength training to running and cycling. She believes that regular exercise is crucial to finding balance in a busy and stressed out world. Michelle lives in Mineola with her husband and two children. Michelle will be teaching the Boot Camp Classes.
